Organization Misbehavior

May 15, 2015 by admin Leave a Comment

Have you ever tried to function in a situation or organization in which the proverbial left hand and right hand do not work together? Where there are seemingly no “hands” (one person doing everything) or too many (everyone doing their own thing). Where people communicate, but not in an effective way, to get things done well?

Unfortunately, too many volunteer organizations function not only in a vacuum, but they have a lot of people doing a lot of work in an uncoordinated manner. There is nothing worse than being in an environment where there’s little communication – or rather, little effective communication – and efforts are unknowingly being duplicated. In a PTA/PTO or other parent group or school environment this could happen for a number of reasons; for instance, the Parent-Teacher group may be sending out notices via newsletters and emails regarding school functions, while classroom teachers and principals are also reiterating the same information. Multiple flyers all with the same details and requests could be sent home daily completely by accident.

Different parent organizations working for the same students and parents wind up operating at cross purposes because there is no vehicle or oversight board to see how things are done for these different groups. What typically happens is that people wind up spending too much time and energy and get burned out, or activities die off because it becomes too difficult to solicit volunteers to run them. After all, parents within a school community talk to one another and the word on organizational mismanagement gets out.

We at Pay4SchoolStuff offer the solution to solve this issue for your school and/or organization. While we can’t provide the oversight of all the groups within a school – or all of the committee chairs/activities within an organization – we do furnish a platform that fosters effective communication and organizational management.

How does P4SS foster effective communication and good organizational behavior? Because the P4SS system is set up in a way that any announcements and notices relevant to a particular child/family are pulled together in one convenient place. Parents can see what events are upcoming and need permission slips and forms, or sign-up to volunteer to be a chaperon or chair the bake sale. Account administrators can e-mail all or groups of parents within the platform with any information. Once parents log in to their online account, they can view all activities going on for all of their kids – for a particular school, cluster of schools, or activities and initiatives in one organization. School staff or parent group leaders can communicate within their own group’s staff or with other groups about what is listed, what information is being collected from parents, and when and how it is listed. Managing and communicating within and across all groups affiliated with a particular school becomes easier, more convenient and more effective.
