This year most of the country seems to be enjoying unseasonably warm weather, but that doesn\u2019t mean you can send the kids outside to burn off their excess energy &#8211; it might be a bit too cold, or there might be rain (which is what we\u2019re getting hit with on the East Coast right now). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just because they can\u2019t frolick in the fresh air doesn\u2019t mean that the only solution to keep them occupied is melting their brains with TV or video games. Their creative juices will start flowing and they\u2019ll look forward to impressing the grown-ups &#8211; and lots of applause. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Take a trip to the library.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Fun, free entertainment. Public libraries in many towns offer different events during school breaks, such as fun readings of seasonal books or craft time. If there\u2019s no event on offer, it\u2019s still a great place to take the kids to encourage them to expand their horizons. If little Sally is really excited about planets and stars help her pick out a great book on the topic. If Johnny loves video games, perhaps a book on the history of gaming or how video games are made would be a great alternative to actually <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">playing<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the games.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Do something kind.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Whether it\u2019s cleaning out their closets to make donations to the local shelter (and getting some sneaky room cleaning in there!), or spending an afternoon serving at a soup kitchen or helping to prep a meal (cutting out shapes for sugar cookies, perhaps?) at a local Ronald McDonald House, having children donate some of their time to charity is a great way to instill values in them that will last a lifetime.
