How About Working Smarter in 2015?<\/b><\/p>\n
It\u2019s early January 2015. The suitcases are put away. \u00a0Friends and family have returned home. \u00a0The holidays and parties are fun memories. \u00a0It\u2019s much quieter around the house as kids are back to school. As we shuffle off to work at home or our office, we attempt to pick back up our regular routines. \u00a0We take stock of our lives in various ways and many of us resolve to try and make the coming year a successful one by promising to do things differently. \u00a0Exercise more. \u00a0Eat less. \u00a0Be more patient with family and friends. \u00a0Be more assertive. \u00a0Look for a new job. \u00a0Change the way we interact with others.<\/p>\n
The reality is that many of these resolutions wind up on the shelf by February. \u00a0Many of us fall back to the behaviors and personal habits that we are used to, whether they are best for us or not. \u00a0The same is true of how we run the organizations we lead. \u00a0\u00a0We may know that our school, PTA\/O or Booster Club spends too much inefficient time and energy manually handling paper forms and checks and inquiries from confused parents, and not enough time planning meaningful activities for students and families or making our leadership group more effective. \u00a0But we continue managing our organizations the way we know. \u00a0It doesn\u2019t mean it works the best. \u00a0It\u2019s just that everyone involved knows how it works.<\/p>\n
