Ahh Fall! The air is crisp, the leaves are changing (if you live in a part of the country where that happens), and the kids are back to school. That means that you, as a dedicated community leader and loving parent, are super busy. And as you know, this part of the year tends to fly by – it seems like just as soon as the doors open for the first day of school the kids are running back out for Winter break.
Kicking off one or two great fundraisers during this hectic time can be challenging, which is why we’ve pulled together a list of some great Fall fundraisers to give you a few ideas and hopefully make the planning a bit easier.
Tailgate Party
Celebrate the start of Football season with a community tailgate party. Ask parents to sign up to bring a dish, and charge an admission fee per person. Set up before the local Pop Warner or High School game and get the entire town ready to cheer for the home team. Ask your community members to lend their portable fire pits for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs.
Apple Picking
Contact a local orchard about organizing a great day of apple or pumpkin picking (or both!). Again, charge an admission fee and organize a bus to take families out to the orchard for the day – typically the orchard charges you by how much you pick, so families would be responsible for paying those fees. Add a bit of excitement to the day by organizing games or trivia events to be played throughout the afternoon or give a prize for picking the most uniquely shaped item.
Chili Cookoff
Is there anything better on a cool fall day than digging into a warm bowl of chili with a side of cornbread? Charge your entrants a fee for submitting their chili, and spectators/taste testers a fee for entering the event and get your community cooking up a storm! Provide the winner with half of the pot, a basket full of new chili cooking supplies, or a gift card to the local grocery store – and of course, bragging rights.
