Thanksgiving Crafts and Dessert!

November 20, 2015 by admin Leave a Comment

It seems that once Halloween passes everything in the year starts to pick up speed and come really, really quickly! With Thanksgiving right around the corner we’ve got a few ideas that we’ve sourced from around the Internet that will help entertain the kiddos in the classroom or at home. And one deliciously sweet treat that is sure to please everyone at the dinner table and get your little ones (and maybe your not-so-little-ones) excited about helping prep the big meal.

Thankful Pumpkin

This little-kid-friendly craft will help keep the spirit of Thanksgiving in mind. While older kids might be able to do this project with little-to-no help, younger children can still take part if you get their Thankful Strips ready ahead of time and ask an old kid or an adult to help them write what they’re thankful for. You can also substitute staples for a glue stick or – if you really want to avoid a mess – tape.

Bonus Points for using these to decorate the dinner table and have some thoughtful Thanksgiving discussions.

Fan Turkey

Here’s one that is just plain cute, and is also perfect for kids of all ages since most of it is actually just folding and taping things together. For the turkey itself you can pre-cut the shapes for young children so they don’t need to use scissors and they can use markers to draw on a face – including the beak.

Thanksgiving Desserts

Okay, here we go. The Thanksgiving dessert to end all desserts. Fine, it isn’t anything that’s super intricate or arduous – but it gets tons of bonus points for being ridiculously on theme! Basically this is a Rice Krispy Treat stuck on top of a chocolate covered pretzel, which we are dubbing a too-delicious-to-resist treat. Little ones will love helping to mix the cereal and marshmallow mixture, dipping the pretzels into delicious chocolate, forming the “drumstick,” and licking all of the bowls when it’s time to clean up!
